Best Western Crewe Arms; local hotel launches @1650 restaurant
One of Britain’s first railway hotels, The Best Western Crewe Arms, officially launched their new restaurant, 1650, on the 27th February this year in a bid to retain the hotel’s historic popularity with locals.
The Crewe Arms, built in the 1800’s, has been a focal point of Crewe since it was built as one of Britain’s first railway hotels with its doors opening up onto the platform. It is one of the few remaining buildings in Crewe still standing from the 19th century. The team behind the launch of @1650 have announced that, due to client feedback, and a drive to keep the popularity of the venue high amongst locals, they decided to open the new restaurant to try and show the public that it is still a worthy contender for Crewe’s bustling high-street trade.

Andrew Sanders, Regional Manager said, “We have worked so hard to keep the Best Western Crewe Arms close to the public, and actively encourage local people to come in and dine with us like they would have many years ago. Instead of letting the restaurant side of the hotel age and become out dated, it was very important for us to remember that this was once a bustling hive of local interest in the area – the natural step to re-launch the hotel’s restaurant was really a great idea. We’ve seen a huge rise in ‘walk-in’ visitors already, and are looking forward to showing the people of Crewe that we are still a vital player in the area – Come and try us out!”
The success the Crewe Arms has seen over the years has been largely down to its clients and customers, and of course the local people who hold events, come for dinner and more. By launching @1650, the hotel specialists behind the Best Western branded hotel want to encourage people back into the venue – just as it would have been in the 1800’s.
The new restaurant, @1650, caters not only for meals and drinks, but also acts as a coffee shop for locals and allows for events to be held at the popular hotel. On the menu are items such as ‘Freakshakes’ – made popular thanks to social media, piri piri salads, hot wings, pizzas, burgers and a variety of deserts to name but a few.

Andrew Sanders concludes, “Whatever the changes over the years, The Crewe Arms has remained, and will remain, a focal point of the town, and continue to employ local families and stand out as an iconic landmark in Crewe. We’re truly looking forward to a positive year ahead”.
